Am I the only one who finds this ad’s co-opting of a name for a Breast Cancer awareness event incredibly inappropriate?

I do the sudoku in amNewYork to pass the time on my commute every morning, but this morning, I got an unsolvable puzzle.

Yes, after more than a month without posting, I’m sure this is exactly what you were waiting for.

The latest in “no, you’re doing it wrong.” Seriously, this is not a difficult one.  You could get accessories right, but not coffee?

In case you were ever wondering what operating system the screens in the back of the cabs run on… now you know. I learned this last night, and it took nearly my entire $7 cab ride for the whole thing to reboot. Way to go, Microsoft.

I may or may not be responsible for creating a Fake Julio Lugo Twitter stream.  I am most certainly not responsible for the Fake Michael Kay Twitter stream, but it’s even more hilarious. My own Twitter stream, however, has been described by one of my followers as “like being on a virtual pub crawl.”

The natural media reaction? PANIC! God forbid they give a little perspective. Here’s some:

According to the CDC, 55 other children in the U.S. have died this season from strains of flu that don’t have the word “swine” in them. 83 died last year. 68 died the year before that. And that’s just children. Throw adults in the mix and there are roughly 20,000 deaths from the flu every year in the U.S. There were no breaking news reports about any of these deaths.

CALM. THE EFF. DOWN.

This is to inform you that effective April, 2009, spring will be eliminated due to budget shortfalls. We regret having to make this decision, but because of the recession, all companies are being forced to make cutbacks. This was a difficult decision to make, but with the nature of today’s economy, one season had to be eliminated.

You may have noticed that in anticipation of an economic slowdown, our corporate parent, God, Inc., recommended instituting a trial run of eliminating spring in 2008 in the New York area. Winter was extended by several weeks, and summer began several weeks early to accommodate the additional space in the schedule. The success of this trial resulted in our decision to eliminate spring entirely in 2009.

Some staff reductions will be implemented due to the elimination of spring. These include the following:

Pella Andersen, Manager, Open Windows and Cool Breezes
L.L. Bean, Associate Manager, Windbreakers and Lightweight Sweaters
Fritz Bee, Assistant Manager, Outdoor Activities
May Flowers, Manager, Spring Greenery
Merry Maid, Director, Spring Cleaning
April Showers, Manager, Spring Precipatation
Bud Weiser-Binge, Assistant Manager, Spring Break Travel

Remaining employees will be transferred to other the summer and winter departments. We honor these employees for their service over the years.
