Sorry for the inconvenience, but there’s no trivia tonight after all. I just found out about it now. By going down to the bar and discovering I’ve been cancelled for the second time in five weeks. Hopefully, regulars will know to check this first before venturing over there and discovering that I’ve been bumped for a birthday party.
So… um… if anyone out there owns a bar, knows someone who runs a bar, and would like a trivia night, please drop me a line at chris [at] eastvillageidiot.com. I work for cheap, promote it myself, and would obviously give your fine establishment a never-ending series of plugs on this blog. Thanks muchly!
I’m hosting trivia tonight, as I do every Tuesday. I almost forgot myself. I also have to write questions in the two hour window between work and trivia. So the questions will probably be extremely easy. There’s your incentive… on top of the 2-for-1 happy hour that runs till 9. Trivia starts at 7:30. RSVP here, or just show up.
If you’re looking for a way to spend New Year’s Eve Eve, come to Triviotic tonight. There will be prizes of booze and other assorted stuff, and the best part: 2-for-1 drinks until 9pm.
Get drunk tonight and prep your liver for the biggest drinking night of the year!
TIS THE SEASON FOR TRIVIA - Take a break from the heavy drinking of the holiday party scene and… drink heavily at my trivia night instead. Triviotic starts at 7:30 tonight at Arrow, 85 Avenue A (between 5th & 6th Streets) in the East Village. 2-for-1 drinks till 9, and free booze to the winners. Details here.
I’m feeling less than 100% right now. More specifically, about 85% less than 100%. I’ve been sick for the past week, but yesterday and today have been especially bad. So, be happy that I’m even writing this, okay?
Triviotic is cancelled tonight. It’ll be back next Tuesday night, I promise.
Now, back to drugging myself up, dozing off on the couch, and reruns of Junkyard Wars on the Science Channel.
If you’ve got a hankering for a drink tonight, or if you have an inquisitive mind, come to Triviotic. Since I’ve been gone, my weekly trivia night has moved to Tuesdays at 7:30pm. So come on down, answer some questions for a chance to win free booze. And if you don’t win, there’s still 2-for-1 drinks until 9pm!
Triviotic is held every Tuesday night at Arrow, 85 Avenue A between 5th and 6th Streets. The bar is downstairs under the big flashy arrow (I bet you’d never guess). Admission is free, and the booze is, too, if you win.
/shameless plug
In the continuing saga of “Chris is Totally Phoning It In,” there will be no Triviotic tonight, because I’m on the bus back to New York. No trivia for you tonight. Sorry, folks.
I’ll be back to my trivia-asking ways next Monday at 8pm at Arrow, 85 Avenue A.
Triviotic is back tonight after its little vacation last week. Check it out starting at 8pm at Arrow, 85 Avenue A in the East Village. More details are here.
Congratulations to last night’s winning team, which had quite possibly the most ridiculous name of any team ever: United Confederation of Hobo Camp and Oh Pants! For Oceanographic Studies. It’s apparently leftovers from past teams, so there you go. UCHOOPOS managed to set a record last night - the fewest points scored by a winning team (42). There seemed to be a consensus that this week’s questions were a bit difficult.
A quick PSA: there will be no Triviotic next week. Triviotic is going on a summer vacation, but we’ll return on August 4th.
Next week, since you can’t come to trivia, you should check out Liam McEneaney’s show at Lolita (266 Broome St. at Allen St.) next Monday night at 8pm. He’s going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but he can’t do it without your help. It’s not a fundraiser… it’s a FUN-raiser! I swear, those are his words, not mine. That probably didn’t entice you very much, did it? Well, how about standup from John Oliver and Wyatt Cenac from the Daily Show? Does that do anything for you? And more standup from Todd Barry? And a musical performance from The Hazzards, who are very much not a gay band? Does that help at all? Hope so, cause that’s all I got.
It’s 10 bucks to get in, but it’s well worth the price. You could see these guys at Comix for twice that and you wouldn’t get half as close to these guys. I used to check out Liam’s shows at Lolita before Triviotic, and it’s… well, it’s intimate. Not like “bow-chika-bow” intimate… more like “so close you can smell a comedian’s halitosis” intimate.
All right, enough pimping out my readers to other bloggers. Last night’s questions and answers are after the jump.
HI. I WRITE ABOUT MY TRIVIA NIGHT A LOT. - I promised myself that after Lozo’s hilarious hit piece on me (boy, he had my number), I wouldn’t write about my trivia night this week. But I am writing about it, if only to point out that I had to pass on going to the Home Run Derby tonight for free just to host trivia. So, come to Triviotic tonight. It starts at 8pm, and the Derby will be on TV there… since it’s the only way I’ll be seeing it. And there will be a category about baseball.
