Last I checked, an escalator can become stairs, but stairs cannot become an escalator.

    Isn’t that what living in New York is all about, though? You walk into a familiar subway station one day and think, “Escalator?! That’s new! Awesome!” And then you realize it’s all lies.

    I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the staircase is actually classified by the MTA and that a six figure contract to “fix” the escalator is in place.
