In Memoriam: My Old Phone
May 16, 2008 – 9:48 amIt had to happen sooner or later, but after almost two years, I have parted with my trust VX-8300, which will soon go to the great cell phone store in the sky (or more specifically, the recycling box at the Verizon store). VX-8300, we’ve had some good times together. You’ve taken some great pictures that have kept this audience entertained over the years. You were a hearty phone. You fell out of pockets, across rooms, and down flights of stairs, yet you persevered. You will be sorely missed.
VX-8300 leaves behind one blogger, me, and a new Blackberry Curve, which will hopefully provide the same great level of service to this blog’s readers in the two years to come.
Here are some of my greatest cell phone picture memories taken by my VX-8300. Enjoy them as a tribute to this trusty phone.
A foggy October morning at Golden Gate from high above San Francisco
My personal favorite: cold beer and the sun shining on the Grand Tetons.
A view of Ditch Plains in Montauk late on a perfect summer afternoon
The best defacing of an American Apparel ad… ever.
You can feel the electricity at Coors Field during Game 3 of the 2007 World Series.
I am too excited to steady my camera as the Red Sox storm the field.
Charlie Weiss is even fatter in person.
I’ve never posted this picture, but this is an elk gyro I had in Wyoming. Yes, an elk gyro. It was quite possibly the best elk I’ve ever had. Actually, it’s probably the only elk I’ve ever had.
On one of this phone’s final days, a beautiful evening on the banks of the East River. Rest in Peace, old buddy.

One Response
That elk looks good.
