Friday Finisher: Because This Week Couldn’t End Soon Enough

May 16, 2008 – 3:56 pm

Welcome to the Friday Finisher… a dumping ground for links, videos, and all the half-baked ideas I had during the week.

At Triviotic this week, one of my loyal readers came up to me and told me that her biggest pet peeve with this site is that the link colors were too close to the color of the text. Readers: ask and you shall receive. The change has been made. Now, this site is more user-friendly. Enjoy.

Time for Comments Made on Posts From The Distant Past:

On Resume of Ethan Carter Rutherford III, Age 2:

I hereby resurrect this posting from last year, due to its pure awesomeness.

Consider it done.

On Line at TJ’s Not Limited to Grocery Store:

When the line is long at Trader Joes and you are waiting for more than fifteen minutes to get inside of a store that has wine of great value but hit or miss on quality and you just can’t take it anymore there is a place one can go to seek refuge and grab a seriously great bottle of wine for not much more than that of TJ’s. On Ave. C between 6th and &th streets is a new little wine shop called Alphabet City Wine Co. They do free wine tasting every Friday and Saturday and are very enthusiastic about their product. You could spend three bucks on a wine a TJ’s or can can spend a buck or two more at a place with a staff that loves their wines so much they have all the information you need to feel confident about your purchase. So next time that line is getting to be too much come on across and down and check it out and while your at it stop by Ninth Street Espresso for some of the best coffee in NYC>

Um, shilling is not permitted on my blog. Plus, I’ve been having a really hard time finding &th Street. Someone told me it was near ^th and *th Streets, but I can’t find those, either.

On Hot and Bothered:

haha i love this!
that’s called gay culture, right there in the steam room at the gym.

sorry but public sex is such a turn on in itself, BUT IN A STEAM ROOM, that so many points!!!

just join the team my dear sir, you missing out… ;)

This doesn’t bode well for my argument in support of gay rights that “they’re born that way! It’s not a choice! What do you think they do, recruit people?”

The concept of The Something Store is interesting. If anyone actually has ten bucks to blow on something without knowing what it is, tell me about your experience. Personally, I’d rather take those ten bucks and buy a burger and fries. That way, you know what you’re getting, and it’ll stick with you for a long time.

This morning, I rode the Q train into work from Brooklyn. I saw three people all sitting next to each other take out their phones at the same time while the train went over the Manhattan Bridge. I was going to take a picture to mock them, but then I realized that would require me to take out my phone. I just knew some commenter would call me out on that, so sorry, no picture for you.

Music Video of the Week: While it may not be a traditional music video, this work of art will make your week complete. It might be the only time I’ve ever enjoyed hearing Bill O’Reilly’s voice.

The obligatory weekly plug reminds you that Triviotic is Monday, and this time, it’s linked in blue. Have a great weekend, everyone.
