The MTA: Out of Service with a Smile
Just when I thought the closed-stairway madness was over at 1st Avenue station, I came across this sign this morning on the 8th Avenue-bound side:
While you may be frustrated by this closing, the MTA wants you to know that they care. They care so much that they added a little editorial comment to the signs at the top and bottom of the stairway:
Perhaps we’re starting to see a kindler, gentler side of the MTA.
Either that, or that’s the smile of the MTA getting off watching hundreds of customers get crammed into a four-foot-wide stairway.

Kate says:You should go back and add some Sharpie ZZZZZZZZs to that face, since the MTA people I know seem to have adopted the motto of “Naptime!”
