if you’re going to stereotype southerners, you should at least get it right. In my experience, the hicks you are trying to satirize are more likely to have a bigass satellite dish than an outhouse.

With respect: If you’re going to cite the [N-Word], have the balls to write it out. It would not have been inappropriate in this context. Buck up. You give the word more power by tip-toeing around it.

Ryan: I can’t win either way. Then I’d be called a racist.

My biggest problem with the N-word thing is the fact you have “a” instead of “an” before it. If you’re gonna wuss out and not type out the word, at least use proper grammar.

lozo: I kid you not… I was actually struggling with whether to use “a” or “an” as I was writing this. “A” is appropriate, because “N-Word” is in brackets, much like any other expletive. For example, “he’s an [expletive]” would be appropriate if the quote was “he’s an asshole,” but “he’s a [expletive]” would be acceptable if he quote was “he’s a good-for-nothing piece of shit.”
Yes, these are the things I think about.

Louis CK’s new HBO special (not sure when it will air - I was at the taping in Boston) deals with this N-word versus Nigger controversy in a very hilarious manner. Keep your eyes out for when it airs….
