Mott Haven is the New Chelsea

Crocodile Lounge on 14th Street used to be tolerable… no, enjoyable… before it was discovered by every freaking NYU student on the face of the earth (how do you know a bar is over? When you get carded at the door at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night). The result is disgusting graffiti like this on the bathroom walls.

Um, yikes. Apparently, those NYU kids have been spending so much time south of 14th Street that they’ve forgotten Chelsea was part of Manhattan.

wait - are there a lot of gay people living in the Bronx? And if so, there are a lot of better places to go than NYU land.

I was just telling my friends a couple days ago how Croc. Lounge had gone from bad to worse. Have you seen the bar across the street called Nowhere Bar? It’s a gay bar, but every time I’d been there it seemed like a regular old bar, I only knew it was a gay bar because a friend told me. So I suggested to my friends that since there aren’t really any decent bars at 14th and 2nd (I don’t like Beauty Bar either - except when they have that free open bar on thursdays) we just go across the street to this “nice, mellow bar where we might meet some guys” across from Croc. Well it was fine when we first got there, but within an hour it became apparent that it was Tranny Night. (oops)
