THIS IS NOT NEWS - The situation: yesterday afternoon, 4:30pm, on CNN Headline News. The scene: reporter stands on plowed street in downtown Syracuse, New York, as traffic moves normally through town. The graphic: SEVERE WEATHER! 3-5 INCHES OF SNOW FALLS IN SYRACUSE, NEW YORK! The facts: They got 10 inches of snow, and on average, Syracuse gets 25 inches of snow in December.

They actually got 17 inches (still not news) and my esteemed “colleague” is still on the scene in the ‘Cuse, where the sun just came out. SUN in Syracuse in December? Now THAT’S news.

Spiegs- I heard 17″ on CNN this morning too, but the National Weather Service said 10.
