It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
The holiday season has officially begun. Lights are up, the department store windows have been dressed, and - best of all - Christmas Trees are already on sale on every other streetcorner in New York. This is New York City’s greatest holiday gift to its residents: for the next four weeks, all those streetcorners that smell like puke and urine will instead smell like fresh pine.
I suggest we should do this with other holidays, too. We could sell fresh rose bushes for Valentines Day! Fresh matza trees for Passover! Fresh beer trees for St. Patrick’s Day! Fresh tree trees for Arbor Day! Together, we could make our city a much more pleasant-smelling place.
Then again, these tree displays obstruct half the sidewalk in some places, which is incredibly obnoxious. Aromatherapy only works so well in quelling my pedestrian rage.
