Would You Like Some Bacon on that Veggie Burger?
I’m stuck home sick today. And thanks to the miracles of modern technology, I’ve become a big fan of ordering food online when I’m sick. It’s better for me, because I can save my voice for emergencies. And it’s better for the restaurant, because they don’t need to try to decipher my order when all they can hear is croaking on the other end of the line. But you know, nothing makes my mouth water more than having this option…

Todd says:You should just order Papa Johns via text message.

Chris says:Todd: That seems like a lot of typing on a tiny dialpad. Not good for someone with the chills.

Caitlyn says:I once ordered a veggie burger at a restaurant (am a vegetarian, sorry) and it came with bacon on it. When I tried to send it back they didn’t understand why.
Hope you’re feeling better.

FB` says:I’ve ordered this at nicer diners a few times - on the right kind of veg burger patty, it’s quite delicious, and just a different taste. Why not?

hi says:FB, are you retarded. usually veggie burgers are consumed by people who DON’T EAT MEAT. bacon falls under the “meat” catagory.

NotAVegetarian says:@hi: Well, this is true. Usually, they are eaten by vegetarians. And it’d be bad if they came with bacon by default. But it is nice to have the option. I’m not a vegetarian, but sometimes I actually am in the mood for a veggie patty - they’re tasty! And I like bacon, too, so what’s the problem with having the option?

AJ says:Reminds me of a story Bob Koch (of Koch’s deli in Philadelphia) told me several years ago. A guy came into the deli and asked if they could make a sandwich on matzoh, since it was Passover and he couldn’t eat bread. Bob said it was no problem… they could make any of the sandwiches on matzoh instead of bread. The guy thanked him and then ordered an Italian hoagie with everything, on matzoh. Nice one.

Ja says:clearly no one has visited Westville or Penelope’s. both places have amazing veggie burgers (i am a meatlover) and they go great with bacon and cheese. why constrain yourself to think within little checked boxes? i can’t say all veggie burgers are good, but great food combinations weren’t invented by staying within eating codes. think fluffernutter. i mean COME ON PEOPLE.

magickat says:There is a restaurant that shall remain nameless that is two blocks from my place - I can go online, place an order, pay with a credit card, include tip, and have the food delivered within 10 minutes and thanks to my doorman and a buzzer I don’t ever have to interact with an actual person!
I love New York.

Ryan says:magickat,
Why did you find it is necessary to keep the restaurant nameless in your comment?
Doesn’t make sense.
