THROWN FOR A LOOP - I’m going to Chicago for the day on Thursday. I have two culinary goals: eat a Chicago Dog, eat a deep dish pizza. Sure, they’re cliché, but the last time I was in the Second City, I was bitter because I missed the season premiere of Full House. Any recommendations? Leave ‘em in the comments.

tim k says:make sure you go to Weiner Circle at 3 in the morning, and be sure to bring your trash-talking A game.

metsgrrl says:Second the recommendation for the Weiner’s Circle.
Just don’t order the $10 chocolate milkshake.
if you can’t go at 3am, it is actually a pleasant place in the afternoon, too.

EVI's Mom says:Yes, you did miss Full House. However, you did get your photo taken in front of Wrigley Field ala Larry and Balkie.

Chris says:Rob: Haha! My friend showed that to me last week, but I didn’t put two and two together and realize where it was filmed. Awesome.

Sally Tomato says:Garrett Popcorn. Plenty of outposts all over the city, but there’s one right on Michigan Avenue. Line’s usually out the door, but WORTH IT. If you like salty and sweet, I suggest you mix the cheese with the caramel. Mmmmmmm.

DrunkBrunch says:Yeah, there’s a Garrett’s Popcorn in the Loop where we are all meeting. Also, the ND stadium has good Chicago dogs, from what I remember. Then again, that was SIX years ago… back when Notre Dame still occasionally won a game.

Neal Johnston says:I had my first slight of pizza at age 14 over fifty years ago and Due’s Pizzeria in the North Side. It is still there. It’s still the heart of Chicago

david says:While it is no deep dish, the best pizza in the city is at Peace Pizzeria on Damon and North in Wicker Park. If you want a dog, and have access to a car, head to Superdawg…though it is basically in the suburbs on N. Milwaukee. Also, might I recommend Carols Pub for your drinking…it’s a boozy honky tonk on Clark and Leland, about a mile north of Wrigleyville…

Sally Tomato says:@Monkeypants: HOW DO I NOT KNOW THAT? HOW DO I NOT KNOW THAT? Oh my God I’ve been Garrettless for months and it was right here in the city the whole time?
Thank you. I shall pick it up on the way home this evening.
