Ghost Town

empty.JPGHas anyone noticed just how empty the city is today? My subway car was practically empty at the height of rush hour, nobody was out on the sidewalk on 1st Avenue when I left my apartment this morning, and I literally walked right up to the counter at my bagel shop at a time when I’m usually in line for 10 minutes.

If this has anything to do with Rosh Hashanah, I call bullshit. Rosh Hashanah doesn’t start until sundown tonight. I think some people are really milking a two-day holiday into a three-day affair. That just ain’t right.

Although if it means an easy commute and no bagel line through the end of the week, I say to my Jewish friends, L’Shana Tova!

Don’t knock it! Although I found the downtown 4 just as packed as usual at rush hour today.

Were we in the same city today? My train seemed more crowded than usual.

Joanna and Benjamin Kabak: That’s really weird. I actually double-checked the time when I was walking down the street, because I started to think that my clocks had stopped during the night. It was that quiet.

I think the real reason is that the Mesurots will be attacking at 3:24pm today. RUN!

Downtown 6 train this morning was MORE packed than usual… which of course led to MORE people groping me than usual. I kind of liked it…

For your easier commute today, I say, “You’re welcome.”

I, however, have to come in to work every day this week while my shiksa girlfriend, a middle school teacher, gets the day off tomorrow.
