Janice Huff: The Hardest-Working Woman in Weather

Over a hundred bloggers from New York, myself included, attended the WNBC NYC Blogger Summit last night at 30 Rock. Before the summit, we all assembled in the Newschannel 4 studio, loudly mingling with WNBC staff, eating cheese, posing for pictures, and probably pissing off Janice Huff, who - for the entire hour that the reception lasted - never even turned her head away from her computer, just 10 feet from the buffet table.

I don’t think anyone even noticed she was there. But either she works hard for her money, she’s completely anti-social, or she’s suffering from a serious Internet addiction and may need an intervention.

Funny thing is for the 45 minutes or so we were all in that room, nothing popped up on the Doppler at all. She was staring at no weather for a good long time.

Still, no one was manning Doppler 4000. That thing was so huge, I’m convinced it could CHANGE the weather.

D’oh. I meant no one was manning the other half of the Doppler 4000 wing. Dumbness = me.

I thought it was a dummy! I never thought for one second it was a real person. Wow - dedicated!

Well, maybe its just cuz Im friendly but she said Hi to me….I didnt even notice her or the Doppler because I was so focused on the SHRIMP and how I was gonna get to it! A girls gotta eat!;-)

anyway, you know that “meteorologists” are serious scientists and Janet is obviously a method performer, so Im sure she was just…um..finding her core and *being* the jet stream….uh huh….

So, Chris…are you saying that Janice Huff stopped the snow from falling tonight? Maybe she is responsible for global warming afterall…Ive thought that for a long time, by the way…..

Really, more likely she didnt want to crack all that pancake on her face!

Doesn’t sound so strange… I spend several hours at a time in front of a computer at my job. Maybe someone’s blogging about me being a workaholic right now! Oh yeah, I’m not on TV.

    I remember Janice from SF
I ran into her in New York right after she moved here and asked her if she was going to replace Al Roker, she replied, “Everyone dies.”
