Manly Drinks

As a man, it’s hard to convince yourself to order a mimosa with your Sunday brunch. That’s why I am a huge fan of the Manmosa, which Heather introduced to me at Boss Tweeds on Sunday. The recipe is simple:

- 1 can of Beer
- 4 oz. Orange Juice

Believe it or not, it’s delicious. Perhaps the most amusing thing about the Manmosa is that it’s considered more “manly,” despite the fact that it contains less alcohol than a mimosa.

This got me thinking: are there other drinks where we can replace key ingredients with beer to make them more masculine? Here are some suggestions:

Drink: Long Island Iced Tea
New Name: Guido Iced Tea
Ingredients:
- 1 part Vodka
- 1 part Tequila
- 1 part Rum
- 1 part Gin
- 1 part Triple sec
- 2 parts Beer

Drink: Cape Codder
New Name: Cape Codder, Hold the P-Town
Ingredients:
- 1 can of Beer
- 4 oz. Cranberry Juice
- 1 wedge of Lime

Drink: Tom Collins
New Name: Chuck Norris Killed Tom Collins
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Beer
- 1 oz. Lemon juice
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 3 oz. more Beer
- Garnish with cherry, orange slice, and a roundhouse kick to the face.

Drink: Cosmopolitan
New Name: N/A
Ingredients:
- Sorry, there is absolutely no way to make a cosmo masculine.

I’d go for Maker’s Mark on the rocks to complete your manly brunch. But a Bellini would be FABULOUS!

    How about this:

    Mike’s Harder Lemonade

    - Take one Mike’s Hard Lemonade
    - Open it, pour it out
    - Throw bottle at hard surface, watch it shatter
    - Pick up shards of glass, eat them
    - Open a 40 of OE
    - Drink OE, belch

I think it’s excellent. You can also do the same with any girlified malt beverage (Zima, Smirnoff Ice, etc).

my boyfriend and i have been making these for a while - we call the drink a ‘MOS, and while yes, there is less alcohol than in a mimosa, its either cheaper (if you use non-headache inducing champagne in a mimosa) or much nicer to your head and stomach (if you use crap sparkling wine or cheap champagne in your mimosa)…either way its a winner.

i knew someone who drank beer, jack, and diet coke, which is somewhat “manly” due to the absolutely disgusting taste of the concoction…but i wouldn’t reccomend it at all.

Um, out here in fly over country take your manmosa and drop a shot of amaretto and you now have a lunch box shot. Down it like an Irish Car-Bomb. It’s good.

Otherwise, stick with some kind of stout or whisky. Sometimes gin/vodka tonics do the job.
